HOMETOWN! ❤️🫶

I don't live there anymore more, but the various lists of where to eat/stay is spot on. I admit I'm biased on the Columns Hotel, as it's where I got married.

The only thing I'd add is Middendorf's about an hours drive north on I-55. Best thin fried catfish.

Also Frankie and Johnny's for good comfort food.

How incredible that NOLA is your hometown! So glad to her you found Julie's guest post guide to be spot on! Thank you for the add of Middendorf's for fried catfish and Frankie and Johnny's for good comfort food. Will go to both places next time I'm there!!

If you visit Arnaud's, make sure to ask for directions upstairs to their Mardi Gras museum. They have cases full of mannequins in elaborate costumes from mid-century Carnival kings and queens. It's simultaneously cool and creepy.

If you're looking for cocktails specifically, follow famed bartender Chris Hannah to his restaurant, Jewel of the South. Or go visit Chris and Laura McMillian at Revel Cafe. They'll happily chat to you about the history of whatever they're mixing.
